Chef Honey’s homemade tomato ketchup recipe u2014 no preservatives, all natural.
Ingredients (for 1kg batch)
- Fresh red tomatoes 1kg
- Beetroot 100g
- Ginger 10g
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Onion 1 medium
- White vinegar 70ml
- Sugar 100g
- Salt 1 tbsp (6g)
- Green chili 2 (optional)
Method
- Boil tomatoes and beetroot until soft, then blend into a smooth puree.
- Sautu00e9 chopped onion, ginger and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the tomato-beetroot puree and simmer on low heat.
- Stir in sugar, salt and vinegar; cook until thickened to ketchup consistency.
- Cool completely and store in a sterilized bottle.
