Homemade Tomato Ketchup

Chef Honey’s homemade tomato ketchup recipe u2014 no preservatives, all natural.

Ingredients (for 1kg batch)

  • Fresh red tomatoes 1kg
  • Beetroot 100g
  • Ginger 10g
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Onion 1 medium
  • White vinegar 70ml
  • Sugar 100g
  • Salt 1 tbsp (6g)
  • Green chili 2 (optional)

Method

  1. Boil tomatoes and beetroot until soft, then blend into a smooth puree.
  2. Sautu00e9 chopped onion, ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomato-beetroot puree and simmer on low heat.
  4. Stir in sugar, salt and vinegar; cook until thickened to ketchup consistency.
  5. Cool completely and store in a sterilized bottle.
